Polygon Siskiu T7 Dual Suspension Trail Bike – What's New?

Build Quality & Geometry.

The Siskiu T7 trail bike has a modern trail geometry designed to handle high-speed control and playful handling demands.

The 29″ wheel size bike features a 135mm of rear travel that strikes the perfect balance between agility and reliable trail performance especially for those looking to glide at high speed through forest tracks without sacrificing stability even on steep terrain. The 27.5″ bikes come equipped with 140 in the rear to give the riders easy control and acceleration on rugged trails.

“If you're riding technical trails, a dropper post is a MUST!” It opens up a far wider range of riding and comfort without having to manually adjust your seat post up and down.

Unlike most trail bikes, the siskiu t seat tubes are significantly shorter. This allows the 150mm Tranz-X Dropper Seatpost to easily fit in on the small and medium bike frame and the 170mm on large and XL.

The chainstays have also been shortened to ensure that the overall wheelbase isn't too long for general trail riding, therefore, keeping the bike fun and nifty!

Faux Bar Suspension Design

A sound suspension system is a must with a bike this pricey, and Polygon doesn't disappoint.

The Siskiu T7 utilizes the famous, tried, and tested connection-driven single-pivot Faux Bar suspension with a linkage that is built around a One Piece Unibody Pivot Bridge.

“Stiffer, firmer suspension”

The suspension is built to minimize the frame's weight, improve stiffness, and reduce lateral flex of the rear shock under load. This allows for confident yet lively handling performance on uneven, bumpy terrain.

While the bike maintains the previous generation's leverage curve and fluid kinematics nature, the 10% increase in anti-squat boosts pedaling efficiency, it allows for a lighter custom shock tune on the shock to improve suspension travel, climbing efficiency, and small bump compliance.

Besides that, there is considerably less stiction in both the Silver-RL RockShox recon boost fork and the rear DebonAir, Rebound Rockshox Deluxe Select Plus shock, which means you can easily overcome almost all obstacles in your way.

Same face, new muscles

The latest 2021 evolution of the Polygon's Siskiu T7 has seen the development of a new frame designed to make the bike even more elegant and fluid. The overall shape is very similar to its predecessor, same to the single-pivot suspension platform with the seatstays directly driving the rear shock.

The frame features an ultra-light, but durable Hydroformed 6061 Aluminium frame with a slacker head tube angle, internal cable routing, 73mm threaded bottom bracket, rear boost thru-axle, and optimized anti-squat kinematic with progressive suspension ratio.

The seatstay is connected to the frame via a one-piece rocker link to help control the leverage rate, provide lateral rigidity, and decrease side-loading on the shock itself. This gives the bike a poppy supportive nature, makes it feel lighter and extra responsive.

Convenient Water Bottle Mount

The new polygon siskiu t is designed so that a water bottle fits into the front triangle.

The seat tube length is slightly lower than previous models to fit a longer dropper post easily. There is a 150mm dropper on the SM and MD frames and a 170mm dropper on the LG and XL. the rest of the frame also features a threaded bottom bracket, boost spacer, internal cable routing, and integrated chainstay protection.

“Thanks to the updated geometry…”

… the Siskiu T reach has 25 to 30 mm extended reach for all sizes compared to the previous models. A 1′ slacker head angle has also increased the head tube angle. For medium-sized 27.5″ frames, the seat tube angle is 65 degrees and 65.5 degrees for the 29″ frames. The chainstay length has also been shortened by about 5mm to help maintain agility on the track.

Wheel Fit Size System

The new update on the wheel fit size system is an awesome upgrade to the Siskiu T7 frame. Each frame is perfectly paired to the millimeters with the correct size that best fits the rider's height. This sets them up for optimal efficiency & power transfer.

If you are tall, about 6'1 like I am, you will gladly appreciate the boost axles and the fast-rolling abilities of the WTB Trail 29×2.4″, TCS Light, and you've got a monster that will tremendously eat up any trail obstacles at incredible speeds. The Entity Xpert handlebar is just at the right height and length and is quite snippy, making it easy to maneuver in tight, less used trails.

“If you love fat tires…”

While the chainstays might have been shortened slightly, there's still sufficient space and clearance to fit in chubby 2.6in tires.

What size Polygon Siskiu T7 should I get?

Polygon Siskiu T bikes are available in different wheel sizes:SM (27.5″), MD (27.5″), MD (29″), LG (29″), XL (29″). To make sure you get the correct and comfortable bike wheel size, measure your height and use the below chart to find the correct bike for your height:

Rider Height (cm) Rider Height (in) Frame Size

148cm – 158cm 4'10” – 5'2″ XS

158cm – 168cm 5'2″ – 5'6″ S

168cm – 178cm 5'6″ – 5′ 10″ M

178cm – 185cm 5'10” – 6'1″ L

185cm – 193cm 6'1″ – 6'4″ XL

193cm – 198cm 6'4″ – 6'6″ XXL

Ride impression

The polygon Siskiu t gives the rider an aggressive riding position.

The stable wheelbase and the relatively tall front-end combination give you the confidence to charge into any bike trail in Australia.

However, finding a sweet spot with the Siskiu's suspension set up as the rear shock is sort of temperamental.

You have to play around with the Rebound & Compression Adjuster if you want to iron out most of the trails chatter and gain an unbreakable grip in the turns. It might seem tedious if you have no experience with this, but it gets better with practice.

Once you dial in and find the perfect balance, the bike performs a lot better and handles big hits and small with confidence. The naturally aggressive position combined with the frame geometry and extra travel gives you an advantage when things get steep and fast.

High-Quality Tektro Brakes

For every avid mountain biker, the brakes are just as important as any other components.

A high-quality brake set gives you the confidence to ride faster. And no, it doesn't mean throttling down the hills at Grand Canyon at ridiculously high speeds thinking that a four-piston will save you. Rather, a good braking set gives you the confidence to ride faster, of course, and also be more fluid with the turns and curves.

“Better brakes will allow you to ride faster.”

The siskiu t7 comes equipped with top-quality Tektro HD-M735 hydraulic disc brakes designed to offer superior braking power in all weather conditions and provide great modulation too. The high power and controllable braking system uses four front pistons and two rear piston calipers with 180mm Shimano Centerlock rotors.

Note: more stopping power isn't always the best.

For instance, weight and lever feel are the greatest variables for a cross-country racer or rider. For a downhill demon, then speed modulation is the greatest variable, followed by the brakes stopping power.

Pro's & Con's Of the Polygon Siskiu T7

Pro's

  • The Polygon Siskiu T7 is a relatively affordable bike considering its technical specifications and features.
  • It's great for the weekend warrior who loves to explore harsh trails as well as new riders looking to get their first full dual-suspension mountain bike.
  • The siskiu t has a good geometry for descents with good control over the front wheel in turns.
  • The geometry gives you a lot of stability at control while descending at high speeds and while cornering.
  • It's an awesome bike! The attractive new paint scheme options offer a trail bike that's definitely worth a look.
  • The 12-speed Deore drivetrain shifts AMAZING. Its 510% gear range delivered massive power to rip up any trail.
  • A regular-sized water bottle cage easily fits in the mainframe triangle!

Con's

  • The tires are okay but could certainly be better. But you can upgrade to something more aggressive, and be sure that this bike will rip!! In stock form, though, it's only good for cruising around regular Mtb trails but not charging through steep downhill.
  • The first ride on the fork feels a little bit pogo-ey. You can find a perfect balance at around 25-30% sag. If you are a pro and feel like you need an upgrade, a lightly used Fox 34 Rhythm is attainable for about $400, and you'll still keep the total cost below the siskiu T8 series.
  • Tektro brakes have enough power to lock the wheels, but they are just a tard hard to use and will definitely take a lot more effort to break them in and achieve a fluid bite. The levers might leave your hands sore if you ride downhill frequently. That said, once you repeat the bedding process a few times, the brakes will work perfectly.
  • For the price, the seat should really have been better.
